A Great Experience – by Anna Harkiss
I’m relatively new to SARDA, having only started volunteering in
November last year. It’s been a great experience so far though!
Everyone involved has been very welcoming and there’s quite a
community feel about the group of helpers who come each week.
Everybody mucks in with whatever is required and supports each other
in whatever way they can. I find that it’s a very social experience
and a great opportunity to meet new people as well as the horses
and, of course, the kids.
As I get to work with different horses / ponies and the different
children who ride them I feel more confident in encouraging them.
I’ve learnt that, whatever the disability, the children have a
strong desire to do things on their own and often they can. This has
changed my perception immensely and I really admire the can-do
attitude that prevails amongst everyone involved. I look forward to
Monday mornings every week - it gives me such a lift. Thanks SARDA
for a great experience!
