Improves balance and
coordination The horse’s walk is 3 dimensional. Forward
and back, from side to side, up and down. This multi dimensional
movement results in rotation similar to the pattern of movement when
the human walks. On the horse the weight bearing is taken by the
seat i.e. pelvis and not the legs so that muscles activated by the
horse on the riders body are exactly the same as those used if they
were to walk. Hence the enormous value of the horse to stimulate the
vestibular system which works closely with the proprioceptual
system, encouraging balance and equilibrium reactions, body and
spatial awareness of the most beneficial kind which no other can
provide in the time – 1000 random movements in 10 minutes to which
the rider has to respond to involuntary. Relaxation is encouraged by
the interaction of the warmth from the horse’s body and the rhythmic
movement that give pleasure and enjoyment. |
